Join us for our festival finale at the beautiful Tulsa Garden Center! The evening will begin with the Tulsa Honors Baroque Orchestra. Directed by Karen Naifeh Harmon and Terry Pollak, the orchestra is now in its 44th year and continues to provide excellent string instruction to youth string players, as well as provides numerous fantastic opportunities for orchestra performances.
As the sun goes down, The Escher String Quartet will take the stage. They have received acclaim for their profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. In its home town of New York, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Tonight, the candles will be lit as pianist Katie Mahan transports us with an array of stunning piano pieces. Praised as “one of the most outstanding talents coming up today,” American pianist Katie Mahan is capturing the attention of audiences throughout the world for her innovative musical personality, poetic interpretations, and graceful, charming stage presence. She possesses an unquestioned technical mastery combined with a kaleidoscopic palate of tone colors, and has been recognized as “a daring and innovative performer.” A multi-faceted artist for whom music is an endless passion, Katie is at home in a broad repertoire, and is particularly distinguished as an interpreter of the music of George Gershwin – performing her own daring, exciting solo piano arrangements to standing ovations across the globe – Claude Debussy and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
